I’m linking to Leslie at Once Upon a Time, Happily Ever After for her 10 on the 10th. If you’ve never linked up or seen these posts before, Leslie comes up with a theme and 10 questions to answer on the 10th of the month. This month it is all about summer and our plans and goals. So let’s get started!
- What will make summer successful for you this year?
- I think it will be a successful summer if we make some memories and have fun. We have some great things planned like an anniversary trip and Disney World trip so things are shaping up! I’m excited!
- “500 Days of Summer,” “School’s Out for Summer,” somersault, “The Boys of Summer,” “Summertime Blues,” “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” “Midsummer Night’s Dream,” dog days of summer, “Endless Summer,” “Summertime and the Living is Easy”…which of these phrases resonates most with you and your plans for the summer of ’21 and why?
- I would say “School’s Out for Summer” resonates most with our family. Last summer wasn’t easy. We tried to make the most of it, but this summer will be much better. We have a pool membership we’ve already been using, a few camps for Claire, visits for the girls to my parents, and a few more fun ideas in our back pockets.
- What do you look forward to doing this summer that you couldn’t do last summer because of C-O-V-I-D? What plans did you have last summer that had to be postponed, altered or canceled all together?
- T-R-A-V-E-L!! As I said before, we have 2 trips planned and we are so excited! We had wanted to go to Disney World last summer, but didn’t feel comfortable, so we are going in August. Avie keeps asking when we are going. I understand why many parents keep it a secret until the last moment. Haha!
- Name something you will track this summer. Steps, calories, Weight Watcher points, money spent, books read, miles traveled, workout sessions, laps swam, miles run, gatherings with friends. How will you track it?
- I would say I plan on tracking my running miles the most. I have a half marathon on Sunday and another race planned in July. Fingers crossed for no injuries.
- Is there something new you look forward to trying this season? New recipe, new ‘do, new restaurant, new vacation spot?
- We have been wanting to try out a custard stand nearby for ages. We are going later this week to celebrate Claire’s report card and school progress.
- Share something you do on repeat every summer. Why is this activity on repeat? Were you able to do that familiar activity last year during the pandemic?
- I love to go strawberry picking every summer and then I made freezer jam. We were able to go last year in spite of a subpar berry crop due to late frosts and I made 3 batches of jam. There are still some jars down in our chest freezer from last year so no need to go crazy, but it would be nice to go again this year and make a pie or two!
- Who will you connect with or reconnect with this summer?
- Hopefully we can connect with our extended family and friends we haven’t been able to see yet. It was lovely going to a family wedding and being able to see everyone and give hugs!
- This season how will you manage screen time for yourself and your family?
- Honestly we try to keep screen time to about an hour a day. There are so many crafts and we’ve stocked up on books for our oldest. I think it will be fine. Some days they probably won’t have screen time and then on those super hot or wet days they might have some extra. It will all even out! And time at the pool will certainly help.
- What project are you hoping to tackle this summer? Something around the house? A craft? A gardening or outdoor activity?
- I’m hoping to make some family shirts for our Disney/Universal Studios trip. I’ve been given the okay by Matt and the girls so I just need to choose designs and the tees.
- How do you want to feel at the end of the summer?
- Well it would be lovely to feel refreshed and ready for school to start. As a parent, I’m not quite sure that will actually happen though. Normally I feel exhausted from balancing all the activities and trying to fit in last minute things I had forgotten about.
Here are a few of my previous 10 on the 10th posts:
