You may or may not have noticed in my Life Lately post this past week that I left out quite a chunk of what I have been up to with the Blonde Squad recently. Since we have been fortunate to spend some really fun time together recently I wanted to share a separate post. I always look forward to whenever I get to see any members of this incredible group of friends. They mean so much to me! Here are some fun things we have been up to.
Laura Geller Luncheon
Last year I loved attending the Laura Geller luncheon in Chicago. Since then I have truly become a huge fan of Laura Geller’s makeup and faithfully use at least 1-2 of her products in my routine everyday. There are many reasons why I like it so much. It feels nice on my skin, blends in smoothly, and gives me a gorgeous glow. It’s also very affordable. Laura Geller has frequent sales! If you are looking to try a couple items, I highly recommend her Spackle Primer in Bronze and either her serum blush or Baked Blush and Brighten in Tropic Hues.
This year the luncheon was on Thursday July 18 at Summer House Santa Monica. I ride to Chicago with Kathrine who is far more accomplished at Chicago driving than I. Girl chat and no driving anxiety? I’m in!
Before the luncheon we met up with Caroline at La Clombe for coffee and tea, stopped in a local boutique, Lori’s Shoes and then headed to Summer House. The luncheon was set in the back room with a stunning garden vibe. It worked well because after our delicious lunch and dessert we got to arrange bouquets to take home. It was such a fun idea and they all turned out so unique and pretty. Unfortunately Laura Geller wasn’t able to attend. I think they said she was getting ready for GMA? She did facetime in and greet us all. Regardless, it is so sweet she does this for influencers. Check out the amazing swag bag! I’m so grateful for the relationship I have with her company. Fingers crossed we have another luncheon to look forward to next year.
Blonde Squad Take Michigan
Thursday
Since we met up last summer at Andrea’s home in Indiana, we have been hoping to get together this summer. Andrea was able to book the cutest VRBO in Douglas which is right next to Sagatuck. It’s such a darling area with the cutest shops, restaurant, and scenery. Since there was a 3 night minimum she booked from Thursday night through Sunday morning. With some things on our calendar already, I was able to go up Thursday, but had to leave Saturday afternoon so I could get ready for a family trip.
On Thursday we all arrived around 4pm. The VRBO home was so cute! It had 3 bedrooms, a front porch, back porch, fire pit, and was really spacious. We enjoyed a delicious charcuterie board Andrea made up and wine while we caught up with each others’ lives. Afterwards, we walked over to a delicious pizza place called Pizza Mambo that Kathrine’s family friends own. It was so good! And they have a beautiful patio where we ate. I’m telling you, the weather was perfection during our stay. We got so lucky!
After pizza, we walked back to the house and changed into some comfortable clothing. Then we started a bonfire in the yard and had fun roasting marshmallows and making s’mores.
Friday
Friday morning once we were all up, we decided to get some exercise in. Jill has an app that is a 7 minute workout. Then we went on a 2 mile walk around Douglas. It’s such a scenic area with stunning lake views and quaint homes and cottages. On the way back we picked up coffee/tea from the nearby coffee shop Outside Coffee Co. Kathrine made up a french toast bake and Jill made a sausage roll for breakfast.
Once we had eaten and gotten ready we headed in to Sagatuck for some shopping fun. There are so many unique boutiques no matter what your taste is. Kathrine showed us a place called Puddingstone that has amazing plants in moss balls. They are so unique! We all found some fabulous clothing and more. I got the cutest light pink lace romper that I want to wear for my birthday and a pretty beaded necklace.
We had a late lunch at The Butler and shared some tacos and queso. Yum! Afterwards we headed back to the VRBO for a little down time. We may or may not have had some fun singing while getting ready for dinner. Then it was off to the Kirby for a delicious meal. During dinner we even had some visitors! These 2 fawns seemed to like us quite a bit since we saw them 4 times throughout our visit.
Andrea got us tickets to a concert in the park after dinner. Sagatuck has a very convenient free shuttle service called Interurban so we didn’t have to worry about finding parking or anything. The band was called Starfarm and was so good. They played a lot of great 80s cover songs. After about an hour and a half during a band break, we slipped out so we could catch the shuttle service without too much of a wait. Perfect timing!
Saturday
Saturday morning began with the same type of workout. This time we ended up down by the beach. Is there anything better than walking with the peaceful sound of waves? After we got ready and had rhubarb coffee cake and yogurt parfaits for breakfast, we explored a bit of downtown Douglas. It’s a lot smaller than Sagatuck, but there are still some really cute shops and quite a few art galleries. Kathrine and I spotted the cutest hand painted cards in a store for $8-10 a piece. We each chose a few to frame at home.
There was an adorable restaurant called Coastal Society with a West Coast vibe we stopped at after shopping for a late lunch They had such a good cocktail list!
Unfortunately I had to leave after lunch so I could get home and get ready for our family vacation (more on that next week). But if you want to see what Andrea, Kathrine, and Jill were up to Saturday evening, make sure you check out Jill’s blog post!
We also made plans to get together again in October at Jill’s house. We will be able to celebrate Jill and Caroline’s birthday since they are a little under a month apart. I’m already excited to see Jill’s home and do all the fun things she has planned!
Overall, Sagatuck and Douglas are darling, quaint towns with beautiful views. They both make great destinations for a friend or family trip for a weekend or a week. There is so much to do and see!
