Personally, I find that when a print or pattern is broken up a bit, the brain needs to focus harder to process it. By adding a vest over a printed top or blouse, you break it up. So when others see your outfit they may look at it longer and take more notice because of the added processing time. Does that make sense? Basically, breaking up a print or pattern makes the outfit more interesting! A vest is the perfect way to break it up and stay warm.

Add a Texture
I’m sure you haven’t thought of a puffer vest as texture, but it really is! This purple Aventura vest is designed to be slightly more fitted than others. The quilting is done in smaller widths so I find it to be more flattering. And there is some horizontal detail on the back and sides for more interest. Overall, a vest can really add another dimension and added texture to your outfit.

Yes! Vests can be thought of similar to accessories. This is especially true if it has unique buttons or patterns. It can also be a great way to show off a favorite pin or brooch. The added color on the top layer of your outfit can also accentuate other colors you are wearing. The purple vest really draws the eye to the purple tights and turtleneck I’m wearing.
