Are you like me? I’m often feeling ready for spring and spring outfits far before the weather catches up. I mean just take a look at the dusting of snow on the ground this weekend when we took pictures. Haha! Since I’m definitely not one to freeze for fashion, I’ve tried to find some solutions to staying warm while still satisfying my spring vibe with my outfits. Here are some transitional spring outfit ideas and tips I hope you find helpful if you live in an area where spring is still a ways away!
1. Add bright colors
If you aren’t already incorporating brighter colors into your outfits, you should consider it. Avoid the dark neutrals like black and dark brown if you really want your outfit to give off a spring vibe. Better yet, wear brighter colors and pastels. Pastel shades are traditional spring colors because of the soft hues we see in Easter dresses, dyed eggs, and flower buds. But even brighter shades like pink, yellow, green, and orange emulate the pretty daffodils and tulips beginning to bloom. Wearing these lighter and brighter colors are a perfect way to take your outfit into spring.

This Cabi yellow checkerboard pullover screams sunshine and spring! The bright color helps to make the perfect casual transitional spring outfit. paired it with Cabi’s colorblock high low crops. I really like the unique look of these with the darker rinse versus lighter rinse. The darker rinse on the hips makes them more slimming and flattering.

2. Consider wearing more white
White is always a great way to bright up an outfit. Pairing white with soft neutrals, bright colors, or pastels will serve to brighten up your outfit just the way those beautiful flowering trees and buds brighten up our landscape each spring. I almost think white pants reflects those bright colors and makes them stand out more.

Since navy is a darker color, it can be thought of as a fall or winter color. Especially since this Cabi sweater has a thick, cozy feel. But by pairing it with white denim, a bright bag, and flats in a lighter shade, it still gives off a spring vibe.

3. Wear traditional spring textures
Textures like lace, seersucker, and eyelet fabrics really evoke a spring-vibe. If you are going for a spring vibe, you may want to avoid flannel, velvet, leather, for fur. Anything thick or heavy will work against a warmer weather vibe because those heavy fabrics are typically worn in winter. If you do choose to use some of these fabrics, be sure to balance it out with lighter fabrics and items.

Not only is this lavender sweater a perfect spring color, it also has an eyelet detail on the sleeves. Because of the pastel shade and eyelet, it has a spring feel to it. Although I paired it with velvet, it is balanced by the bright accessories and sweater color.

4. Incorporate more prints
Just like plaid makes us think of fall, prints like floral, tropical, and gingham are more traditional for spring. Of course, that also depends on the colors used, but you get the idea.

The tropical print dress I’m wearing from Shop Avara has plenty of coverage for early spring, but still gives off a spring vibe with the bright colors, use of white, and fun tropical print.

5. Use the accessories
White sneakers, colorful flats, and other bright shoes are great to help make your outfit feel more spring-like. You may want to avoid tall boots or booties since they can make an outfit feel visually heavy and thus wintery. Use bright or lighter colored accessories like colorful purses and jewelry to either accentuate a specific color in your outfit or contrast it. It’s fun to add additional colors to your outfit and brighten it up this way.
