We all are aware of the turnaround Walmart has done to change the negative opinions of their clothing. The style and trendiness has done a complete 180 in recent years. There are new brands and great styles and typical low Walmart prices. I’ve done a few reviews on their seasonal items. But I began to wonder about foundational pieces like jeans. Those items you wear daily. What is the fit like? How about the quality? So I ordered 7 pairs from different brands to try them out and see. Check out what my thoughts are in this Walmart jeans review to see if you should invest in any of your own.
Just a reminder I typically wear a size 2 in pants. I’m 5’5″.

Jordache Straight High Rise Smart Denim
- $17.94
- Fabric- This fabric is a thicker denim which feels like good quality.
- Stretch- There is minimal stretch in these. Enough for comfort, but not enough to stretch out during the day.
- Fit- I felt these were flattering. I am wearing a size 2. They have a good fit at waist, fitted on thighs then straight.
- Look-I thought these were flattering and looked more expensive then their price. I got the medium wash, but there is a black and lighter wash available.
- Overall- These were my favorite! I actually kept them because they are comfortable, good length for boots to help keep legs warm,

Free Assembly 90s Relaxed
-
- $16
- Fabric- The fabric was a thicker denim.
- Stretch- No stretch in the fabric
- Fit- These are a size 2. The fit in the waist was good. I’d say they are TTS. They were comfortable to wear.
- Look- I didn’t find these to be flattering. The relaxed fit was somewhere between straight leg and wide leg. So they ended up just looking oversized and baggy.
- Overall- Although these were comfortable, the denim fabric seemed to be quality, I would pass on these. I just found them to be unflattering.
-
- $19
- Fabric- Like the previous pairs, these are a thicker denim material that feel quality. They won’t rip or fall apart easily.
- Stretch- These jeans had the tiniest bit of stretch for comfort. But they definitely would not stretch out.
- Fit- Oh my goodness these were so tight in the waist! I would size up 1-2 sizes. Apart from the waist and hips, they fit through the thighs and calves. The length was good.
- Look- If they had fit appropriately at the waist, it would have improved the look drastically overall. I prefer this medium wash,
- Overall- I liked the cut of these jeans. But I am curious to know how they would look if I had an appropriately fitting pair and how more waist room would affect the fit in the legs. The distressing looked good and they felt like decent quality.

Time and Tru Mid Rise Straight Jean
-
- $16.78
- Fabric- These jeans were made of a thinner denim fabric.
- Stretch- I found these to have a lot of stretch to them. Although these were a size bigger anyway, I could tell they would most likely sag and stretch after a few hours of wear.
- Fit- When I ordered I could only get these in a size 4. I would say they fit TTS though. They were just a bit large in the waist and hips.
- Look- In the photos, I think these look good. They have a nice length to them and the darker wash is flattering.
- Overall- Although this pair of jeans looked good, I didn’t care for the fabric. I could tell they would stretch out too much. It’s too bad because I think the fit/cut was good.

Sofia Vergara Melisa Flare High Rise Button
-
- $29.50
- Fabric- This pair of jeans were made of a lightweight denim fabric.
- Stretch- Although I found these to be fairly stretchy, I don’t think they would sag after a few hours of wear.
- Fit- I would say these fit TTS. They were a tiny bit long, but perfect with a bit of a heel and no dragging on the ground.
- Look- They were very comfortable to wear and I thought they were flattering, especially in the butt! The pocket placement was perfect.
- Overall- I was really impressed with these jeans. I liked the length and look. They were comfortable and flattering. If I needed a pair of light wash flare denim, I would have kept them.
-
Sofia Vegara Mid Rise Boyfriend Bagi
-
- $27.50
- Fabric- This denim was thicker than the flares from the same Walmart jeans line.
- Stretch- There was a bit of stretch for comfort.
- Fit- These fit TTS. I found them to fit nicely in the waist. I found them to be fairly fitted through the legs. The ankle opening was a bit too slim to look good over boots. Honestly I felt the fit was a bit closer to a girlfriend fit jean than boyfriend since they were on the slimmer side.
- Look- I think the cut of these jeans is comfortable and flattering. Sophia Vegara jeans seem to be reliable for their good rear pocket placement.
- Overall- This pair just didn’t sing to me. They were fine, but with current denim styles I did not feel the need to purchase.
-
- $19
- Fabric- The fabric felt nice and thick.
- Stretch- These had a slight stretch that immediately went back into place. I don’t think they would sag or stretch out at all.
- Fit- The fit was TTS. They fit nicely in the waist and hip. The rest was a loose fit in the leg. They are wide enough and long enough to wear over boots for warmth.
- Look- I wasn’t impressed with the look of these. To me they were not flattering and the wash of denim and whiskering looked cheap.
- Overall- Although these were comfortable (purely because they were loose), and had a good fit at the waist and hips, I didn’t care for them. The construction and denim looked a bit cheap to me.
Have you ever purchased jeans at Walmart? What is your favorite brand? I realize Jordache is not originally a Walmart brand, but I was impressed with the fit and price of them overall. Sophia Vegara was another brand that seem to have nailed the fit and cut of jeans. Which look best to you?
