My oh my that is a lot of numbers in my post title for today. But it truly comes down to one happy girl. That’s me! A while back Closet 52 contacted me about trying out some of their dresses for review. Before I agree to collaborations like this, if I am unfamiliar with the brand I like to check out the website and see if it appeals to me. I also like to get an idea of the quality and price point of the brand. Many times I end up turning down collaborations or reviews because the general style of clothing does not suit me, the price is too high, or it doesn’t look like decent quality.
At first glance, Closet 52 had some beautiful dresses. There was a nice variety of colors, styles, and prints. The styles tended to be more elegant and timeless which really appealed to me. When I purchase a dress for a nice event, I hope to wear it again eventually. Since these events are few and far between, I try to purchase a dress in a more timeless style so it won’t look outdated in a year or two.
I was able to choose 3 different dresses from Closet 52. I try to get a wide range of styles to see the quality of material they use and how well made their different types of dresses are.
Black Jacquard Print Dress
This cocktail dress immediately caught my eye. I really liked the shift style and knee length hem. The ruffles at the hem added some interest, too. The pretty foil detail in the floral print gave me holiday vibes. This cocktail dress would work well for an evening work event, as a wedding guest, or holiday party. Since this dress is black, it would work well with tights as the weather gets colder. And it has pockets! That attention to detail impressed me. The fabric has a nice, heavy weight and feels high quality. I am wearing a size 4 and would say it fits TTS. I probably could have gone with my typical size 2, but it wasn’t available at the time.
White Eyelet Dress
I can’t resist eyelet! The problem is when eyelet pieces aren’t lined or are not lined with good fabric. So often, lining is made of very poor quality fabric that is see through. What’s the point? I was very impressed by the opacity of this dress’s lining though. No worries about this dress being see through at all. Closet 52 also carries a very similar dress in a beautiful soft blue shade. It would work well for a summer party, date night, or dressed down with a kimono or denim jacket. I’m wearing a size small and would say it runs a bit big.
Pink Floral Midi Dress
The pink color and floral print are what drew me to this dress. It’s made of a soft, jersey fabric that I found very comfortable to wear. The dress is a sleeveless silhouette with a keyhole back with tie, a fitted bodice, side pockets and a long, flowing skirt with a tiered hem. I ended up requesting a size 6 since there weren’t any other smaller sizes available. It seems to fit TTS. I belted it and really like the effect. Because the fabric is so soft, it would be easy to wear this as a casual dress during the day with flat sandals, or dress it up with wedges or heels for an evening look.
Overall, the dresses from Closet 52 seems to be of good quality. Based on what I’ve paid for cocktail dresses and casual dressed previously, I’d say the prices are very good for what you are getting. It’s obvious with the fabric choice and detail that there is clearly thought put into the design and making of these dresses.
