No matter how good you are at applying makeup, it is easy to make mistakes. All it takes is an interruption or twitch for it all to go awry. Makeup mistakes often happen at the most inconvenient times. Taking off all your makeup and starting over is not a realistic option. Are you struggling with overdoing your makeup and other makeup mishaps at times? Here are some ways to fix them without starting over.
Mascara where it shouldn’t be
If your mascara is too old or is drying out, it may flake and leave mascara on your cheeks after you’ve already perfected your face makeup. Solution? Brush the mascara flakes away using a fluffy eyeshadow brush and transparent loose powder.
If you’re working with a new wand or you swipe too quickly, it’s easy to end up with mascara on your lids instead of your eyelashes. A fix for this is to hide the marks with concealer. Dip the edge of a small brush into the concealer. Then dab it along the edge of the dark marks you need to disappear.

If you splurge on eyelash extensions, you don’t even need to wear mascara. Your lashes will still look great without it. You can get away with fewer products and less mistakes. Lilac St., Allure, Vavalash and Sweed have the best waterproof fake lashes that are easy to apply and will simplify your makeup routine.
Too much foundation or concealer
When you’re exhausted and you look at it, your first reaction may be to reach for your foundation and concealer. If you aren’t using products that are a good match for your skin tone or you’re using too much, you may just highlight your lines and end up with a cakey look. Going overboard like this is one of the most aging makeup mistakes you can make.
To avoid this, steer clear of thick foundations or concealers. If you choose fluid ones that contain luminous particles, your skin will look natural and healthy without looking as though you’re wearing a mask of makeup. If you bought a foundation that is too dark for your skin tone by mistake, you could try to correct this by mixing it with a lightweight moisturizer.
Glitter all over your face
You may apply a glitter eye shadow for an evening event and find that it ends up everywhere. An easy way to remove the glitter is to apply moisturizer and press a damp cotton wool pad over the top to lift it away from the skin. This means you can remove it without interfering with the rest of your makeup.

Unnatural blush
If you avoid using blush altogether because you fear it will look unnatural, it’s a missed opportunity. Blush can instantly make you look younger. It’s important to use a natural, rosy color that suits your skin tone. Stay away from blushes that are too powdery, too bright or too shimmery.
Make sure to blend blush carefully into your skin if you want it to look natural. Keep brushing and blending until you get the right intensity. If you use a cream blush, add a swipe of foundation or translucent powder on top.
Too much focus on contouring and highlighting
When you focus too much on contouring and highlighting, it may look perfect on stage but it doesn’t work as well in real life. You may love a dramatic highlight but when you’re in natural light, it may just look like a weird streak on your face. What pops on Instagram may not look that great in real life. You need to get as close to your skin tone with your highlighter as possible if you want it to look natural. Be a better version of yourself rather than trying to look like somebody else.

Flaky or overloaded lips
Even if you regularly exfoliate your lips and apply lip balm, lipstick can accentuate any rough patches. Dabbing your lips with a colorless balm will moisturize your lips. It can also soften any flakes and make your lipstick color last longer.
If you’ve overloaded your lips or the wrong color, you can apply a balm or clear gloss. Then blot with a tissue to remove lipstick.
Hope these tips save you time and frustration in the future!
