Get ready for a photo dump! This year was Matt and my 15 year wedding anniversary. I can’t quite believe we have already been married that long. Since we don’t typically do much to celebrate, we decided to cash in on the multitude of airline miles and hotel points Matt has accumulated during work trips. They have to be good for something, right? So after some searching we found the Hilton resort in Puerto Vallarta and it looked like just what we needed.
We flew in on Sunday June 27 and got there right around lunchtime. We stayed at the Hilton resort in Puerto Vallarta. There are 3 different pools and a beach option; two pools are adults only. There are also several different restaurant options around.
Now, I do make a differentiation between ‘vacation’ and ‘trip.’ A trip is for sightseeing and traveling. A vacation is for relaxation and rest. So I can’t really detail our day to day activities because they mostly entailed eating, drinking, and lounging by (or in) the pool. The weather was fairly good considering there was a hurricane/tropical storm passing nearby. It rained at night and sometimes in the morning, but most afternoons were partly sunny.
Our first morning there we did get roped into a ‘travel club’ presentation. You know the kind. It’s apparently different than a time share. Haha! But we did wrangle a good breakfast, bottle of tequila, and tickets to a dinner show I’ll talk about later. And we got to tour the place which was really fun! Why???
Well, are you a Real Housewives fan? I watch a few different locations. Mostly because it is so crazy! Do you remember the RHOC episode when they visited Puerto Vallarta? The place we toured was where they stayed! It was absolutely gorgeous and I got a big kick out of seeing it all. The person who took us around was actually there when they were and said Vicki Gunvalson hurt her leg and it was such a mess getting her medical help.So of course I needed to include photos from the place!
Isn’t the property so amazing? And the views are breathtaking. It makes me want to stay there next time we go!
Matt and I absolutely loved dressing up for dinner each night. We were able to get quite a few blog phots in some of which I’ve posted and others that I will be posting soon. I think the best part was not having to cook or clean up. There is a special pleasure in eating food while it is hot and not needing to get up during the meal to get anyone anything. Haha!
We spent so much time by the pool. It was super relaxing. We indulged in so many delicious drinks and snacks poolside. Did someone say guac? There was also the daily iguana visitor that always came to say hello.
On Wednesday night, our anniversary, we headed out on a boat to Rhythms of the Night; a dinner show. The boat ride from the port was maybe an hour or so, but there were drinks and snacks aboard. The crew was really fun, too. When we got there, the entire island was lit up with torches and candles. We walked along a paved pathway to the outdoor theatre area. Due to weather constrains, the show was before the dinner.
The dancing was AMAZING! I am not sure how else to describe it, but there were incredible performers with beautiful costumes. Everything completely held my attention and I was so sad when it ended. The dinner was only so-so, but still well worth the tickets! The crew on our boat back even put on a hilarious lip sync show on the way back.
Our favorite restaurant at the resort was definitely the Mexican one.We even cancelled our reservations at the Italian restaurant to go back another night! The food was far and above the others. I had a stuffed poblano pepper and the mole the next. SO delicious! Service was very good at all restaurants though.
All in all, it was a wonderful time. We felt so relaxed and rested. Hopefully we are able to go back one day.
