Did you know that in 2010, there were just 480 million internet users? Not even a decade later in 2019, this went up to a staggering 4.1 billion! With this, came a new wave of people who began blogs as a hobby or career. Of course, this also led to a new wave of people who read blogs on a daily basis. In 2010, there were 370 million blog readers. In 2019, this shot up to 3.1 billion. This means that about 2/3 of the internet still reads blogs. Blogging is not a dying art. So think about these statistics. There is no shortage of readers, potential customers, and fans on the internet. So let yourself be motivated to put some extra time into your blog! Here are better ways of approaching your blog business.
Be genuine
Whether you do book reviews, movie critic sessions, or just write about your family adventures, being a unique blog is the most important thing. Readers will sense when you are not being genuine. Everybody thinks they have to follow the top bloggers in doing what they do. But, market saturation is the last thing customers and readers will support. Not to mention, your public image will suffer. Copying is seen as lacking character, not being interesting and as viewing blogging purely as a chance to make money. So the number one thing to remember is, always be a unique website with unique content.
Improve your writing
Blogs that read well will get readers to keep coming back. Not to mention, you can express yourself much better. If you are clear, articulate and hit the nail on the head with expressions, paraphrases, terms, slang and quotes readers get a better sense of you as well. Using an API like quillbot can help you with this, as it can take what you have written and paraphrase it into a concise sentence or two. So if you find that you write a little too much to express something, use the API to shorten sentences, keep the main part of the paragraph and get rid of the extra. This helps readers to get what they call short-reads. Have you noticed how many blogs now have ‘5-min read’ or ‘2-min read’ at the top of their blog posts? This all lends itself to short satisfying reads which get to the heart of a topic and finish with a good ending.

Be consistent
Readers want to have consistent content, they don’t want to have late blog posts or erratic posting times. What good is it if you post a piece in the middle of the night, when you can see from your metrics that you get the most readers between 6-8pm? So be consistent with your posting, stick to a schedule that is the most relevant to your readers. While we can’t always adhere to it 100% of the time, it’s good to have a schedule.
These are just some ways to approach your blog in a better way, but this list is by no means exhaustive. Can you think of some other things you need to improve?
