Looking in the mirror in the morning, how do you feel when you look at your reflection? Are you happy with the complexion of your skin or are you aggravated by signs of aging and breakouts?
If you want to look and feel your best, there are a few dos and don’ts you should adhere to. Especially if you’re unhappy when looking into a mirror, there may be a few changes you can make to help you improve your skin. Here are some tips that you should and shouldn’t be doing when it comes to your skincare.
DO use the right products for your skin
There are a lot of skincare products on the market but not all of them will be right for everybody. For example, people with sensitive skin should avoid products that are overloaded with certain chemicals, since they can lead to dryness, irritation, and other issues. So, consider your skin type and research the types of products that you should and shouldn’t be using. And when buying something online or at your local store, be sure to purchase science-backed skincare products and not any oil or lotion that hasn’t been produced in an ethical manner. You could be doing your skin more harm than good if you buy from a company that isn’t to be trusted.
DON’T neglect your beauty routine
There could be days when you’re tempted to skip your regular beauty routine, especially when you’re tired or busy. Don’t do that! While you don’t need to have a facial mask every day, you should be exfoliating and moisturizing daily. Exfoliating, especially chemical exfoliation can be very gentle and can be done daily. DO get your beauty sleep
A lack of sleep can lead to all kinds of skin problems. This includes acne breakouts, dryness, puffiness, and the onset of fine lines and wrinkles. And I can’t forget about my personal vendetta- dark under eye circles. This is why you should get your recommended 7-9 hours of beauty sleep a night. Your skin will produce more collagen and moisture when you do and your body will have time to heal itself to alleviate the skin problems that can affect your appearance.

DON’T go to bed with your makeup on
No matter how tired you feel, don’t forget to remove your makeup before your head hits the pillow. Not only will you wake up with a stained pillowcase, but you could wake up with acne and other skin-related issues too. Makeup clogs your pores and this is why skin problems can occur. So, wash your face before you go to bed. And then use a toner to remove any traces of makeup that may be stuck in your pores.
