Do you spend the holidays at home or are you planning on traveling? We used to do a lot of traveling, but since having children, we’ve used them as an excuse to stay at home more. What else are they good for? I mean the snuggles, hugs, kisses, “I love you”s, and all are great, but I love using them as an excuse to not do as much driving. Just kidding! When our oldest daughter was born Christmas day, we decided after 1 year of travel we hated the idea of her waking up in a home that wasn’t hers and opening stockings and having a birthday dinner some where else. So we are willing to travel before or after Christmas, but Christmas Eve night will always be at home. People often feel bad for her because her birthday is on Christmas and it breaks my heart. That girl is BLESSED! Everyone remembers her birthday! Relatives and friends that wouldn’t normally give a birthday present do because they want to make sure she loves her birthday. And people, she definitely does! She is so proud to have the same birthday as Jesus. She gets to celebrate Christmas in the morning and then we have her birthday dinner at night. And then it seems like we celebrate it again every where we go for Christmas, too.
But anyway I digress (Oh my! I’m not typically so wordy!). Back to traveling. We have a day trip planned and then a shorter trip in the new year. So we are spending some time in the car over winter break. Whenever we are doing driving, I like to think of comfort. My go-to outfit often consists of a tunic, leggings, and a vest. The vest is a great way to avoid the bulk of wearing a coat in the car while still staying warm even if you have to run in to a gas station to help the kids with a bathroom break or grab a drink or snack. Leggings allow you to move more and are are just plain more comfortable! The striped tunic I’m wearing is actually a sweater but I ordered it in a tall size to give myself some extra length and be able to wear it as a tunic. I’ve done this several times from Old Navy and it works well (I’m 5’5″ for reference).
Are you doing some traveling over the holidays? What do you like to wear during long car trips?
