Today I wanted to share something pretty personal to me. You all know how important confidence is and why I try to promote it weekly with my linkup. I wanted to share why I’ve taken that platform on.
Looking back on my childhood, I never remember particularly ‘loving’ my body. When I looked in the mirror, I saw flaws. What I know now is that I had a distorted body image. In college, I ended up developing in eating disorder. At the time I was smaller than I am now and I still ended up losing just over 15 pounds over the summer through a combination of not eating and over-exercising. I was obsessively counting calories and weighing myself. It took years for me to get to a place where I was comfortable with myself. Ironically, being pregnant, gaining all that weight, and giving birth helped me to finally see what therapy never could. The human body is an amazing thing that should be celebrated! No matter the shape or size, we are incredible!
By focusing on what I like about myself and the positive things I can do (e.g. distance running), I have become so much more confident about my body and myself. I wanted to share that confidence and so that is why I decided to start my Confident Twosday linkup. No woman should feel negative about their body or themselves.
Nevertheless, it can be a battle some days. So each day when I get ready there are several things I like to incorporate in my get-ready routine to help ensure I feel confident throughout the day. I tend do do the same routine whether it’s for a day at home, I am off to work, or a more important occasion. We should feel confident no matter the day, right?!
1. Comfortable and Cute Undergarments
The first step is the most important, in my opinion. You cannot be confident if you feel uncomfortable. For me, this means under garments that are soft, stretchy, and feel great all day long. I start with a Hanes ComfortFlex Fit® Bra and Hanes Cool Comfort® panties. In particular, theUltimate Comfy Support ComfortFlex Fit® Wire-Free Bra is made of smart sizing fabric to help take the complication out of finding the perfect bra. Sold for $34.00 each, this bra has ComfortBlend® lining on cups and wings for a soft, cottony feel and a seamless design for a smooth, line-free silhouette. This versatile style bra is a great foundation for any look I want to wear!
Hanes Cool Comfort® Cotton Hipster Panties, made with wicking fabric, keeps you cool for all day comfort. Staying cool and comfortable definitely helps keep you confident especially during summer months! The preshrunk, ultra-soft cotton feels great against skin and has the best fit from day one. And there is no tugging with the covered elastic leg bands that won’t ride up and a plush waistband for comfort and durability. You can find them in a pack of 6 for $13.00. Make sure to visit Hanes.com and check for special offers/discounts first.
With good under garments you don’t need to worry about tugging, pulling, ill-fitting, itching garments so you can focus on the task at hand all day long and be confident in yourself! When you are comfortable, you are confident!
2. A Special Beauty Item
Have something in your makeup routine that makes you feel good. I hesitate to name a specific step because every woman’s makeup routine is so different, but I love applying lipgloss or lipstick at the end of my beauty routine. It makes me feel more polished and that I am putting my best face forward. For others, it could be a high-end moisturizer that makes you feel that you are worth spending money on or your favorite perfume. Rock whatever makes you feel confident about yourself!
3. Clothing & Accessories
It’s important to find what you love to wear and what makes you confident and happy. Personally, I love interesting details on my clothing like embroidery, embellishments, contrasting colors or fabrics, and a little height on my shoes. A polished look, whether that is for a casual day or work meeting helps to boost my confidence. You need to determine what type of clothing you feel most comfortable in and I’m not talking about yoga pants! Do you like to rock the minimalist chic look? What about business attire? When your clothing feels like an extension of who you are and your personality shines through, you know you feel more confident stepping forward in the world.
