I mentioned earlier this week I’ve been really pushing myself to up my time at the gym and been trying to increase my running mileage. Not only that, but we live on an acre of land with a lot of landscaping that needs to be tended to and weeded. All that work in hot, humid weather does a number on your skin and your feet! After all that hard work, I am sharing some relaxing ways to pamper yourself this summer!
1. Infused water
Staying hydrated is so important when you are outside. To help encourage myself to drink more water, I make infused water. It’s incredibly simple and you can make any flavor you want. We have mint growing in our garden so I tear up some leaves and throw them in a pitcher. It’s even better after a couple days! I’ve done this with strawberries and lemons, cucumber, watermelon, and pineapple. Delicious!
2. Invest in quality bath products
After a run or long day outside pulling weeds, a long shower really helps me unwind. Recently I’ve been using a Spongelle flower sponge. It is a body wash infused sponge that comes in 5 different scents designed for gentle exfoliation, to whisk away dry skin, stimulate circulation, and provide a delightful massage at the same time. It helps me feel so much more refreshed after my showers and my skin is smoother, too!
3. Take care of those tootsies
I’ve made a commitment to myself to take care of my feet this summer. That means monthly pedicures and trying to keep those calluses at bay. Between my senior year in college and when I got pregnant with Claire I ran 7 marathons. I am trying to get in shape again (probably not another marathon yet though!), but without the ugly feet that come with it. I use a Spongelle Pedi Buffer in the shower, an exfoliating stone a few times a week, and lotion on my feet after each shower. I have to say they are looking much better this summer!
4. A DIY hair masque
Elle at Ellesees has some great DIY hair smoothies to try. I also use coconut oil and a few drops of essential oil for a quick mask to help soften my hair after all that sun exposure. It helps keep the frizz at bay!
5. Fresh flowers
Having vases of fresh flowers from my garden or the store spread throughout my house is not only visually appealing, but relaxing to me, too! What can I say? I love to look at pretty things!
