So I am finally getting around to sharing some photos from our recent trip. We have been fortunate to visit Ireland quite a few times and Matt even worked there a few years ago. It was nice to go and not have a need to see “all the things.” We chose a couple of our favorite and a couple things we haven’t seen before and took our time to just enjoy being there (and shop) the rest of our trip! There are a lot of photos so I apologize in advance!
On the way over.
Our hotel was right by the Aviva Stadium in Dublin. It was fairly convenient being near a train station while still in a residential area so very quiet!
Monday morning we took the train out to Howth. It is a darling little seaside village with fantastic seafood.
That afternoon we visited Kilmainham Gaol. Matt is really interested in the history of Ireland and that is one place in Dublin we had never visited. It was a great tour! Getting to the place was a little out of the way though. Between our walk around Howth that morning and walking to the jail and back to our hotel that afternoon we walked well over 14 miles that day!
Tuesday was all about shopping. I took a lot of dressing room photos, but never got around to putting together a shopping post! Wednesday we had signed up for a tour of the Aran Islands. We took a bus out from Dublin and then a van to the ferry. After over 3 1/2 hours of travel we finally made it to Inis Oirr.
Matt didn’t believe me when I said I saw a dolphin. He told me it must have been the scuba diver and I thought it was a dolphin. Here’s a photo to prove him wrong!
We rented bikes and saw a lot of sights on the island including the cemetery, a shipwreck, and soooo many stone fences!
Of course I was able to find the only store on the island and get an adorable navy Aran sweater for Claire. Too bad they didn’t have one in my size!
On our way back.
Thursday we spent shopping and went out to dinner with friends. We flew back on Friday. Overall we had a wonderful trip! The only stressful part was the plane ride over. It’s an overnight flight and I had issues sleeping so I was exhausted by the time we arrived. Our rooms weren’t ready that early in the day so we had five more hours around Dublin before we could shower and nap.
Next trip we are doing two things: 1) Booking our hotel for the night before we arrive so it will be ready whenever we get in the next morning. 2) Bringing some Maxasorb Melatonin lotion to help me sleep on the plane. I just got it this week, but it has been helping me get to sleep much faster (always a problem for me), sleep through the night, and wake up feeling more refreshed. Just what I needed after hearing about the neighbor’s break-in! I noticed I had more issues adjusting to the new time zones this trip than I have in the past. This is definitely an item that will be on my Must Pack list next time! Each dose of Maxasorb Melatonin lotion from the dispenser delivers 3 milligrams of melatonin with a full press of the pump. Just before bedtime, I rub it on my arms or legs. The natural ingredients make this lotion super gentle and I haven’t had any negative reactions to it.
Do you have any travel tips for adjusting to time zones?
