You guys. It’s been a Mom Mode kind of week. I shared this sweatshirt last week in my amazon try-on haul and it’s definitely appropriate. Matt needed to go out of town for work so it’s been all me this week. We did some Christmas decorating last weekend and had the tree up with lights, but no ornaments yet. Monday I decided to hang the ornaments so when I did the house cleaning I could make sure to get all of the empty storage tubs put away and vacuum up any of those plastic needles that had fallen from our tree. I started fluffing a few branches and all of the sudden that darn thing fell over! All 9ft and probably 200+ pounds of metal and plastic. What the?! Somehow I manage to get it standing (all the while Claire is on zoom doing school across the room). It seems sturdy and straight so I’m good right? Wrong! After adding ribbon and about half of our ornaments it starts tipping again! I couldn’t save it. Claire was in tears because a few of our ornaments had broken. Oh honey, that is the least of my issues. Meanwhile, I’m trying to potty train Avie and running back and forth to the bathroom every 30 minutes to get her to try. Of course the 3rd time the tree fell and 5 failed attempts on the potty, she had an accident. And it wasn’t even 11am! Claire loved telling the story to her grandparents since I made sure to ask if she was on mute before yelling, “I hate this tree! It’s so stupid!” I have a feeling this is a story we will be reminiscing over for years! The top section had cracked and some of the plastic holders for branches had, too. So Claire and I hauled it to the curb for garbage pickup the next day. We drove to Home Depot that night and picked up a new one and I had that sucker up in 5 minutes, no joke! There are only 4 pieces and lights are on it. Woohoo! Although if the universe was trying to tell me that we needed a new tree, I wish it could have been in a little gentler way. Haha!! I was so sore on Tuesday after all that work! At least we are laughing about it now.
