Most girls like their options when it comes to getting dressed, but sometimes that can become overwhelming! There are certain times in life when you may want to consider a capsule wardrobe. Capsule wardrobes have becoming more and more popular over the years, especially with bloggers trying them out and many ideas on how to do them available. I had the opportunity to try out the winter capsule wardrobe from Midwestern Melissa over the past week. Her Busy Mom Winter Capsule Wardrobe is just what I needed to shop my closet and switch up my daily outfits (and save some time in the process)!
Reasons you might want a capsule wardrobe:
- maternity wear
- post-partum while transitioning back to your typical size
- after changing sizes
- traveling
- new stage of life requiring different wardrobe
- help yourself get dressed faster in the morning
- reduce waste
- save money on clothing
Reasons I liked this capsule wardrobe:
- I had many similar items in my closet I could already use
- many bottoms, shoes, and accessories were interchangeable if I want to switch it up a bit
- there are even more possibilities you could create with these items than listed
- items were budget friendly
- mostly casual outfits, but had some dressy options, too
- items were fairly timeless
I tried out Melissa’s capsule wardrobe for a week and wanted to share the outfits I wore. They were comfortable, easy to wear, and quick to put together. Some of my items don’t match exactly (fleece vest instead of fur and green cardigan instead of green sweater), but I wanted to use what was in my closet.
So after following this for a week what are my final thoughts? It was nice to have someone dress me! It did require a little thinking to make sure I had the items clean I needed for that day, but there are more than enough outfit options to circumvent that issue! Tops that were able to be worn tunic length with leggings and still look cute with jeans were important for me (my preference to cover my backside)! The layers were nice because I often get cold. They also helped make the outfits look and feel more finished/polished. Overall, this was a fantastic capsule wardrobe within a budget.
