It’s been a year and a half now since I became a stay-at-home-mom. In many ways it is incredibly rewarding. Aveline often climbs up on my lap just to sit and will ask for hugs throughout the day. I’m able to volunteer at Claire’s school and walk her to and from school. But I do miss dressing up for work sometimes! Casual style is wonderful, but it can feel repetitive after a while. Sometimes I feel as if there are only so many ways to mix it up with jeans. But I have learned a few ways to help add interest to my casual, every day looks and make them feel more special and put together. Here are some great ways to make your casual outfits feel more special!
1. Add Classic, Timeless Jewelry
I have my fair share of statement pieces, but the jewelry I reach for on a daily basis is genuine, fine jewelry. I just got a pair of small gold hoops from AU-Rate and absolutely love them. They are small enough to wear every day and will never go out of style! I even work out with them and have slept in them before. Some jewelry gives me a reaction because I developed a nickel allergy recently, but any pieces from Aurate have never been an issue. They truly have great quality! I also love diamond studs, a small necklace, and my wedding rings.

2. Use Color
Color is another wonderful way to add interest and it can be done in so many ways! You can go monotone, add one bold color, or pair bright colors together; whatever you chose it will help your outfit stand out more. The color block trend this fall makes it a no-brainer! I recently received this color block sweater from SheIn and I love how it combines typically spring pastel colors with fall hue of mustard yellow! Use code Q4idodeclaire for 15% off anything from Shein through 12/31, too!
3. Wear Fun Shoes
Heels don’t have to have all the fun! Flats and even sneakers can be super cute! Take these metallic rose gold loafers from FSJ. Aren’t they the cutest?! For volunteering in the school library or heading to an appointment, these can really add the extra pop to a casual jeans outfit. There are so many other fun flats at FSJ, too! FSJ is an international company focusing on quality and craftsmanship while keeping fashionable design and cost in mind. You can even create custom shoes with them! Embellished, colored, or metallic flats can take your outfit to the next level!
4. Don’t Forget Accessories
There are so many fantastic accessories that can help make your outfit more interesting or more special. Hair clips and scarves are having a moment. It’s a great time of year for hats and lightweight scarves or even a fun printed belt is cute! I also think that adding an extra layer underneath (collared shirt or peeking out the bottom) or over top (lightweight jacket, vest, blazer).

5. Add Prints & Textures
In addition to color, prints can add interest to a casual outfit. You can even do some print mixingand take it up a level. Fall has so many fantastic prints or textures to play around with, too. Stripes, moody florals, plaids, corduroy, leather, lace. I could go on and on!
I hope this inspires you to jazz up your casual outfits this week!
Last week’s most popular post was from Amber at Avec Amber. She is rocking those fall essentials! I love her vest and crossbody bag!
