It’s
been a long hard winter. And even though the groundhog says spring is coming early, I am not holding my breath that warm weather is coming soon. The bright lights and cheery disposition of the
festive season is long gone. So, it’s hardly surprising that so many of
find this time of year a depressing and gloomy one. So, with that in mind I’ve
come up with 6 ways you can treat yourself in the run up to Spring. Why not?
After all, we definitely deserve it!
A
weekend away
It
could be a little boutique B&B in the next town, or it could be thousands
of miles away in a new country, but getting away for a weekend is a sure fire
way to give your contentment a much needed boost. You can explore a new town,
try new foods, make new memories with someone you love, or just stay in the
room all weekend and spoil yourself with room service. However you choose you
treat yourself – go and book it now! And if you’re thinking of heading abroad,
don’t forget your travel insurance! Check outUHC Safe Tripfor the latest information.
Read
So many
of us wish we could read more. I know I do! The stack of books that’s gathering dust on your
bedside table is a sad sight. And I have a list of books on my phone and my amazon wishlist a mile long! So, why not boost your creativity and refresh
your imagination by promising yourself to read more? Falling into a good
bookwill help reduce your
blood pressure and make you forget about your every day stresses for a little
while. Try to set aside even 20 minutes every evening – or whenever you can
to pick up a good read. Reading before bedtime instead of watching television could even help your mind get more settled for sleep so you get a better night’s rest.
Get
dressed up…
From
drinks with friends, to a delicious meal with the person you love, who doesn’t
love getting dressed up and spending time with the people we care about the
most? Do whatever makes you feel happy, something to eat, drinks, heading to
the movies, or seeing a play or show. Put on your best shoes and that red lipstick!
…Or get
dressed down
Maybe the thought of staying at home instead sounds more fun to you? Sometimes the idea of getting all dressed up and going out is just exhausting! If that’s the case, then don’t sweat it.
There’s nothing wrong with putting on your favorite joggers, leggings, pajamas, or bathrobe andcurling up on the
sofa. Catch up on This Is Us, Real Housewives, or watch a movie. Just make sure you’re extra comfy
and have plenty of snacks!
Head to
the spa
Spa
weekends aren’t in everyone’s budget but that’s ok. You could still head to
a local spa or beauty salon and spoil yourself with a back massage or
shoulder massage, a facial or skin treatment. Maybe even try something spiritual like
Reiki. Try something new – you might just discover a new favorite! If you are on a budget, try looking for beauty or massage schools nearby. You can get great treatments for much less!
Take
more naps
Many of
us are deep in sleep debt. So, why not see if you can make time in your schedule for a few power
naps? They don’t have to be long, set your alarm for 45 minutes on a weekend or a little
more if you wish. You’ll feel so much more refreshed and ready to take on
anything. Try taking turns with your spouse, you get a nap Saturday and he gets one Sunday. Then you will both feel more recharged!
