These days I typically am in casual outfits like leggings or jeans so when I have the opportunity to dress up, I grab onto it, no matter the weather. So when we are fortunate enough to have a date night or any other reason to put a little extra glam in my outfit I like to have my options. Living in the midwest or other locations where winter can take a figurative (or literal) dump on you, that means sweater dresses are the perfect option for when you want to dress up, but still need to do battle with the cold.
I was recently approached by Femme Luxe to try out a few of their items. Honestly, many of their things were a little too revealing for my taste, but I did see several sweater dresses that had lots of potential, especially given our recent snowfall.
The first sweater dressthat caught my eye was this simple black midi dress. I ordered my typical size small. I was a little worried it would be too fitted, but I think it is perfect. With many sweater dresses because of the knit I feel more comfortable wearing a slip or tights underneath just so you can’t see the outline of my legs if I get in a backlight, but it’s definitely not see through. It’s perfect with a pair of booties and fun accessories! I think this dress is my favorite of them.

The second sweater dress I picked was this mustard yellow one. Because of the fit on the model, I ended up ordering a size up and I am happy I did. It’s still fairly fitted, but not skin tight at all. It’s a great color and I really like the hemline detail on the bottom (if you can see it in photos). This would even make a nice sweater dress for fall with an olive utility vest.

This grey sweater dress is such a fun, cozy piece! It’s short enough to work as a tunic with leggings, but long enough to work as a dress, too (as long as you aren’t out with children and expected to do a lot of bending over). The contrasting white sleeves really drew my eye and it comes in several different colors. It’s got a pretty relaxed fit, so if you are ordering make sure you order your typical size. The mustard sweater dress was the only one I sized up on.

The wrap style of this dress is cute and different than the other styles I chose. You’ve got to switch it up sometimes, right?! It’s really date night material and can even be worn more off the shoulder if that is more your style. This color is a little more see through so keep that in mind since you will need to wear a slip underneath (I’m wearing a black slip dress).

I took a peek at their US site and it looks like most prices are around the $20 range. Based on my experience with the items I would say they are priced pretty well. They certainly don’t break the bank and should last a few seasons! What are your thoughts? How do you like to dress up in winter?
