When you live in the midwest as long as I have (since 6th grade), you resign yourself to being cold during the winter. If you are like me, it doesn’t really matter if you are indoors or outdoors, it always feels chilly. In fact, I am sitting in front of a space heater as I write this! So while I have a few different winter wool coats and a waterproof 3-in-1 coat, none of them keep me super warm. But I’ve never tried a down coat. So when Happy Goat Lucky contacted me to try out one of their coats I was excited! I was even more excited when it arrived and I was able to try it on though. Although down is incredibly lightweight, it’s very warm. I’ve been wearing it during errands and taking my daughter to and from school since Friday and I’ve been very impressed. I’ve been warmer than ever when wearing it and haven’t even needed a scarf (unheard of for me). It’s perfectly true to size and I love the length and fitted design so there is no danger of looking like a marshmallow! This particular coat is on sale right now for under $300 which is a very good price for a jacket with over 600 fill and with a fur trimmed hood!
If you aren’t familiar with Happy Goat Lucky, it was founded in 2009 by a mother of two in Long Island. It focuses on high quality outerwear, particularly with fashionable down coat. In the past few years, Happy Goat Lucky has expanded to packable jackets, wool coats, vegan leather, and more all while keeping fashion, function, and detail in mind. These coats have been sold in high end boutiques, but recently have been focusing more on their direct online sales. I’m wearing their Miranda style coat and absolutely love it. Keeping up the cozy look I threw on leggings, a grey marled tunic sweater from SheIn (use code BAMBRICK20 for 20% off until 1/1) and my new Koolaburraboots for a busy day. This sweater is a size medium and definitely long enough to be worn with leggings. It comes in several other great colors, too. It’s heavier weight so it’s nice and warm and fits well. The boots fit true to size and are a great alternative if you don’t want to splurge on Uggs. I even got my daughter a pair and she insists we match all the time. They are really soft and warm, too. I think it’s already going to be tough to motivate myself to wear anything else and winter hasn’t even officially begun!
