When packing for a vacation, picking out which
shoes to bring along always poses a challenge. You don’t want to bring too many
pairs since they’re bulky, heavy, and hard to find room for in a suitcase
that’s already close to being full. If you’re trying to narrow down your
selection of vacation-ready footwear, it’s important to think about
versatility, comfort, and (of course) fashion! In fact, shoes are the first thing I normally decide upon when I pack. I typically choose 3-4 pairs and then plan my outfits around those. Check out these four essential
shoe styles to take with you on your next vacation.
Tennis Shoes
Today’s tennis shoes come in so many stylish designs
that it’s easy to make them a part of your vacation attire. Whether you’re
going on a walking tour or you want something ultra-comfortable for wearing on
a plane, casual tennis shoes are a smart choice for travel. Remember, the athleisure trend is still going strong! Try to find a pair that
works with lots of different outfits, whether it’s a T-shirt and jeans, a cute
jumpsuit or an airy sundress. If you plan to work out during your trip or enjoy
some outdoor adventures like hiking or camping, opt for something a bit
sportier.
Boots
If the weather is cooler at the locale where I am headed, I always bring a pair of leather boots. On your next trip, you could even think about bringing along a pair ofleather cowboy boots from a trusted brand
like Ariat. This is a versatile shoe style since you can dress them up or down as needed
depending on the occasion. Quality cowboy boots have excellent support
for all-day wear. Be sure to break in a pair of leather cowboy boots before
departing for your trip so they’ll already be customized to your feet. Since
they’re so comfortable to wear, cowboy boots are the perfect pick for destinations
where you’ll be walking a lot.
Sandals
Are you going somewhere warm? Then sandals are
a must-have accessory for your suitcase. You’ll want to wear these to stay cool
on hot days and add a fun accent to your outfit. Flat sandals are a great
choice since their lightweight and slim design makes them much easier to pack. You might even be able to fit an extra pair in! Avoid flip flops that offer sub-par support and don’t stay on snugly. Instead,
choose a sandal style with a back strap that helps keep the shoes perfectly in place while
you’re out and about. Though you want an overall flat style, be sure the
sandals you select have a supportive footbed as that is the most important feature to help absorb shock as you walk.
Flats
High heels are some of the hardest shoes to
pack. If you anticipate a few dressy occasions on your travel agenda, pack a
pair of stylish flats instead, but make sure they have adequate padding and support. Many flats have little to no arch support or padding. Pointed-toe flats can be a great alternative to heels or
wedges when you travel, but they take up much less space in your bag. Plus, they’ll be more
comfortable if you’ll be wearing them for an extended period of time. The last
thing you want is sore feet or legs in the middle of an important trip, so keep
the stilettos at home and bring along pretty flats instead.
With these four shoe styles, you should have
enough options to provide fashionable footwear choices for any activity on your
travel agenda. Be sure to bring these essential shoes along on your next trip.
