Gone are the days when I would go out with my husband in a tiny top in the middle of winter and freeze all night long just to look good. I still want to look good, but those tiny ‘going out’ tops have been cleared out from my closet for years. So I have learned some ways to dress for a night out in cold temps while looking cute and staying warm. I put together 2 outfits for inspiration today that have a healthy dose of sparkle and shine, but with layers and coverage so you don’t freeze (too much anyway)!

A sequined mini skirt is a perfect option for NYE. But I added fleece tights underneath instead of bare legs. A black turtleneck not only lets that sequined miniskirt take centerstage, but also helps keep you warm. And you can even add a cami or lightweight long sleeved tee underneath. To amp up the warmth even more, you can wear OTK boots. I have a couple suede pairs and not only are they cute, they are really warm!

Instead of a skirt, sequined leggings are really trending lately. They are typically lined making them a little warmer than other leggings. And you can layer your tops to help stay warm. I have a thin camisole on under my silk blouse and then a blazer on top. A blazer can be warmer than a cardigan because it is lined and is a dressier option when headed out for the night.
Hope you all have a warm, wonderful, and safe New Year’s Eve and New Year!
